DECEMBER 17, 2003 -
Al Gore had said it, as we reported here ("Al
Gore: 9/11 Could Have - And Should Have - Been Prevented").
Now, the commission that was charged by Congress with looking into
9/11 absolutely agrees.
President Bush's
strength is supposed to be the War on Terror, his response to 9/11.
Well, according to a report about to be released by the
Congressional panel charged with looking into 9/11, that horrible
day should never have occurred, and only did occur because the Bush
administration "simply failed."
As reported by CBS News, former New Jersey Governor Thomas
Kean, a Republican who President Bush appointed to chair the
commission looking into the events surrounding the 9/11 terrorist
attacks, "is now pointing fingers inside the administration and
laying blame."
Kean, according to
the CBS report, says in the coming months we will hear the names of
the people responsible for the failures that allowed 9/11 to occur.
Testimony will begin next month.
So, while one day
it seemed the Bush administration would be walking on roses until
election day, being able to use the trial of Saddam as it's latest
campaign "turkey," in a matter of days the reality comes back to the
fact that 9/11 occurred on his watch - a fact the rest of the media
likes to ignore.
Somehow, the
right-bullied press likes to point to 9/11 and the War on Terror as
the good part of President Bush's record. President Bush loves to
highlight it even more. He even made the coming Republican
Convention in New York the latest one ever held so he could be in
the Big Apple right on the anniversary on 9/11. He thought it would
highlight his greatest moment.
Now, people may
demand he stand there and issue a big apology for letting it happen
on his watch. This on top of the fact the EPA was caught misleading
New Yorkers about air quality following 9/11, leading people to
spend too much time in the area without necessary protection, which
has caused serious respiratory ailments for many people.
President Bush may
think he will get a big New York welcome. It just may be the sort
of welcome the Red Sox get when they come to play 4.
In any case, the
American people are finally about to get the truth. This is why we
at The Moderate Independent love America. It doesn't matter what
the mainstream press writes or the spin one political party or
administration puts on things, whether it be Watergate or Iran
Contra or this, the truth still reigns in
America
- and good Americans on both sides of the aisle, such as Republican
Thomas Kean, in the end stand up for what is right.
Tell me now
President Bush is a hero.
