RIGHT-WING COMMENTATORS DISTRAUGHT MURDOCH CAN'T BUY WHOLE INTERNET Savage Sues, O'Reilly Cries, The Moderate Independent Attacks (Unrestrained, We Might Add) |
JUNE 20, 2003 – Michael Savage is suing 3 of us. Bill O’Reilly is crying loudly and publicly about us.
Why is it that the right-wing circuit is so up in arms about some sites on the net?
Let’s see O’Reilly say it in his own words: “Ideologues accusing public officials of the worst things imaginable. And creeps gossiping about celebrities in the crudest of ways.”
Just to be clear, he was talking about us internetters, not himself and his right-wing buddies.
Let’s read that again: “Ideologues accusing public officials of the worst things imaginable. And creeps gossiping about celebrities in the crudest of ways.”
Really, he’s not talking about him and his Murdochian pals going off on Hillary and Streisand. In fact, he’s saying clearly that he thinks to do such a thing, to “accuse public officials of the worst things imaginable,” and, “(gossip) about celebrities in the crudest ways,” is clearly amoral, and possibly illegal.
He makes clear that he believes people who do such things should be punished: “All over the country, we have people posting the most vile stuff imaginable, hiding behind high tech capabilities. Sometimes the violators are punished, but most are not.”
Again, he is not talking about himself or his right wing buddies, but spouting about us internetters.
Bill, you might want to be careful, if you succeed in making “violators” (i.e. people who “accuse public officials of the worst things imaginable,” and, “(gossip) about celebrities in the crudest ways,”) subject to being, “punished,” you might just find yourself out of a job – or even worse, depending what you mean by “punished.”
Heck, the whole right-wing propaganda machine could collapse. And indeed it has begun to, as evidenced by the desperate suit filed by TV and Radio Non-Sense Spewer, Michael Savage Weiner. The lawsuit reads:
“This action arises out of the defendants’ coordinated schemes to use internet websites… to interfere with TRN’s business relationships.” They whine about e-mails they say are “false and defamatory,” as well.
As reported by The Moderate Independent in SAVAGE WEINER COMES OUT OF THE CLOSET, the Weiner Man is suing takebackthemedia.com, savagestupidity.com, and michaelsavagesucks.com for costing him numerous major sponsorships, including Kraft and Proctor and Gamble. The suit itself actually centers around the pulling of an ad by Culligan Co.
There is a problem, and we at The Moderate Independent are the first to admit it. The internet is fundamentally flawed. Unlike TV, radio, and newspapers, the cost of starting and running a website is not so prohibitive that only a few massive corporate conglomerates and ultra-wealthy media tycoons can afford to get their voice out there. And, unlike with radio and TV, the O’Reilly’s, Limbaugh’s, Hannity’s, Weiner Man’s, cannot shout over us or turn down the volume. We are completely on equal footing, and there is no amount of money that Rupert Murdoch can spend to add us to his collection of right-wing puppet outlets.
O’Reilly’s feeling it. Savage is hurting from it.
Guess what, right-wingers, we’ve only just begun. The Moderate Independent and other sites like us are growing each day, with increasing thousands upon thousands of daily readers.
And guess what – there’s nothing to sue about, because we do what you pretend: actually deliver the truth, and hammer those who deserve to be hammered – and owe allegiance to no one, no political party, no corporate boss, no one at all.
Yes, Bill and Mike, be very, very afraid. But please, don’t cry and whine so much publicly. It just makes it so much easier to point out you are nothing but the pansy, hot-air-filled little wusses that you clearly are.
