JUNE 30, 2004 – First let us say
we love you all. Truly.
When we at The Moderate Independent saw
the non-Moderate Independent media actually covering news for a
while - as they were doing a decent job with the abuse scandal - we
decided to switch gears.
Betsy took some time and put together an
entire book - yes, a massive socio-political work of semi-fiction.
Stanson wrote a screenplay. Terton talked to guest writer
Thoreau about his claim that the jobs supposedly being "created" are
just an accounting gimmick that actually has started including
outsourced (i.e. overseas) jobs as if they were jobs created here
(according to Thoreau, he was told this directly by a high level
person from the governmental department responsible for doing the
tallying.)
Me, I was playing some golf.
Not really. I was kicking around
the coming print version of M/I.
We at The Moderate Independent
understand both the importance and limitations of a news source.
For example, say a brilliant editorial puts together all sorts of
info and reaches a startling, profound and troubling conclusion.
It gets read, passed along, thousands of people talk about it.
But a full length feature project, such
as a novel or documentary, can have a more profound effect.
And getting out in print is vital to reaching those who are not
being informed.
So I gave the crew some time off and we
all set about expanding M/I's reach while, we thought, the non-M/I
press was having a rare instance of actually providing useful news
coverage.
Something started to happen, though.
First it was an trickle of querying e-mails. Then a rain.
Then a full out storm of angry e-mails from loyal M/I readers
demanding we get back to work. Finally, our readers simply
ordered us, as one e-mailer put it, to "Give us back our non-biased,
non-censored, and informative news source."
(Yes, that is an actual quote from a actual e-mail.)
So, we're back, and truly it is just the
time when actual news - particularly related to the election - is
beginning to occur.
- Bush's ground war is unfolding - no,
not in Iraq, right here. As we told you, his election strategy
will not be about debates or advertising but about completely
sucking the media air up with trials and other staged, carefully
timed events and by making votes for himself and thwarting votes for
his opponent..
- Rumor: George Bush is going to run
with two Vice Presidents on his ticket. No, not a joke.
Somewhat speculative, but the line we heard is that Cheney will step
back from VP citing health reasons, allowing Bush to bring someone
else on. However, so as to not disappoint Cheney fans or frighten
those who count on Cheney to work Bush like the puppet he is, Cheney
will make clear he is sticking around as a top advisor. So,
Bush will run with Cheney still there but also with Cheney gone and
someone else on the ticket.
- Moveon.org is rounding up a whole
group to "out" Fox News as, if you can imagine, not a useful news
source but a Bush-backing puppet station.
- Air America radio is really rocking...
Hawaii. Yes, three stations there but only about 4 or 5 other
states covered. What business savvy.
- John Kerry and George Bush are
battling back and forth about the use of Hitler's image.
Ok, let's just take a second here and
talk about the actual biggest story that occurred over the past
month. Nope, not Scott Peterson (if you answered that, you are
obviously at the wrong news source.) Nope, not Saddam, not the
economy, not even the abuse scandal, not Reagan coverage, not
Michael Moore's documentary, not even Britney Spears getting married
again.
There was one story that was monumental
and brings us to a little secret: the election's not the thing
to worry about.
When Dick Cheney told Pat Leahy to,
"fuck off," it got some coverage. But the huge news was
brushed over.
The biggest news our nation experienced
this past month were two comments related to the "fuck off"
incident, one by Leahy and one by Cheney.
In response to the Cheney comment, Leahy
said, ""I think he was just having a bad day," as reported by
CNN.
And Cheney, rather than apologizing,
said he "felt that what (he'd) said badly needed to be said, that it
was long overdue."
CNN covered this in an article titled, "Cheney says he felt
better after cursing at Leahy."
This, dear M/I readers, is the entire
issue and why our nation is completely controlled now by amoral,
Brown-shirt wannabe Bush/Limbaughians. It's not about
policies. It's not about money. It's about one thing:
cowardice. Dick Cheney should have been strung up and held out
to dry for what he said. Instead, Leahy, like the co-dependent
wife who covers for the abusive husband, makes excuses for the bull
Cheney pulled.
Cheney desecrated the Senate.
Cheney showed a complete lack of morals, self-control, and basic
decency. And he showed his claim to speak for Christian values
to be a fraud.
More importantly, our nation's Vice
President made something very clear: he is very tired of
living in his tiny little closet, pretending to be a nice, decent,
morals-having person who respects the American government and
democracy. It is "long overdue" that he should hurl
threatening fighting words at any Senator who opposes him.
Enough pretending, enough feigned niceness, enough with just
bullying behind closed doors. It is time to storm the Senate
and scold all opposed into fear and submission.
The point that everyone in the non-M/I
media completely left out, as they always do, is that what we saw
that day - and heard in Cheney's gloating over what he had done
rather than apologizing - were the true men beneath the
Bush/Limbaugh Republican sheets. President Bush, Dick Cheney,
et. al have come to power by playing a game, a game of claiming the
high road so that they can take the low road, a game that has made
it fun and beneficial to be a lying, cussing, bullying, racist,
sexist, greed-and-war monger. Using word games and lies
perfected by the likes of Gingrich and Limbaugh, they have made
lying pigs giddy. This scum, these Bush/Limbaughians, are now
a major, set segment of our society. They are born in the mold
of David Duke, the former head of the Klu Klux Klan who shed his
sheet, got a face peel, and told lots of nice lies publicly so he
could run for governor. Bush supporters are racists, they are
sexists, they are liars, they are bullies, and they are proud of it.
And now an entire generation has been raised seeing this scumbag
behavior rewarded.
Leahy should have shoved his foot up
Cheney's ass, or at least either sworn back at him twice as badly or
derided him massively for being such an out-of-control child and
demanded an apology. Kerry should have stepped up and scolded.
Instead, once again the bullies got
their laugh. Even better, the lead bully himself, Cheney,
simply gloated and spit on the wuss Democrats.
The issue is not the election. So
many non-Bushies don't seem to get this. Yes, Bush must be
defeated for the sake of the nation, but that only begins the work,
because there is now a permanent segment of our society growing
bolder and bolder in their open amorality, who have seen success at
the highest levels by their lying, bullying, swearing brethren, and
who, even if defeated, will only seethe and plot and attack and
attack and attack until they are back in control of everything.
Every time the come back they are worse,
more openly amoral, and less inclined to even make a pretense of
hiding it. This time they deny they condoned abuse of
prisoners; next time they will openly embrace it. This time
they claim it is not a bigoted war against Islam or Arabs; next time
they will openly embrace that it is such.
With each incident that goes unpunished,
their power grows.
It's not the economy, stupid. It's
not Iraq. It's not even the War on Terror.
It's the bullying, stupid, the
emboldening feeling of hubris that the Bush/Limbaughians are
thriving on. Until their bullying gets responded to with blows
to their faces, nothing can stop their movement, nothing will stop
them from entirely taking over the nation and finalizing its
reshaping into a Nazi Germany-like entity, into the Holy American
Empire. Nothing, if the Democrats, the press, and the good
people of our nation don't get some balls.
You are reading M/I, where we call Nazi
scum Nazi scum, where we not only fight back but fight forward, and
where we don't just stand up to bullies but roll them as a fun
afternoon sport.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention what Johnny
Ashton, our resident firebrand, has been up to this past month.
He's been putting together a list of people who need to be told to
fuck off, loudly and publicly. Look for his article in the
next couple of weeks.
But as a preview, John would just like
to tell you, Mr. Cheney, you grade-school level embarrassment to all
the decent people of our nation, you Darth Vader-like, butt ugly,
impotent, spineless little turd who needs to use four letter words
to make himself feel like a man - on behalf of good Americans, and
particularly on behalf of the Moderate Independents of our nation
who will never let anyone bully our country into the pathetic,
dilapidated mess you wish to make it, and on behalf of Betsy V.,
Samuel A. Stanson, Ben F. Terton, probably Jackson Thoreau, and, of
course, myself, Thomas J. Bico, Mr. Cheney, John Ashton would like
to tell you that he knows just what you need to do, and that is to
not only fuck off, but to go screw yourself up the ass with a
two-by-four that has a dozen rusty nails sticking out of it.
And even that, Mr. Cheney, is only the beginning of what you need to
do.
Welcome back to M/I. Look for more
on some of the above-mentioned news items in articles to come.
