OCTOBER 14, 2004 – She was stark raving mad. No, we are not talking about the woman who had to put up with O’Reilly – the latest to follow in the Gingrich/Limbaugh tradition of taking the lowest road while claiming the highest – and his harassing, smelly, drooling banter. No, we are talking about the wife of a Dick, Lynne Cheney. Mrs. Cheney started a drooling, spewing tidal wave among the desperate, high-road claiming right. These people who are busy doing drugs while calling drug users the lowest of scum, who are piously claiming to be upright moralists while ranting to coworkers about vibrators and shower fantasies, are doing it yet again, claiming the highest road of massive indignation over… John Kerry stating a simple, publicly known fact about their daughter. And the entire non-Moderate Independent media will run with it because the Bush/Limbaugh right wants them to and they are nothing but Gingrich-intern-like whores. Like Limbaugh to his heroine pills, the non-M/I press must answer their masters, the Bush/Limbaugh right, and give air to nonsensical nonsense, trying to grow and grow this non-story until, just maybe – according to their entirely out-of-touch, lost-in-delusion-land minds – they get the on-his-way-out President back in the game. But, unfortunately for this plan, the families of the 8 Americans who were killed today in Iraq, and their friends and acquaintances, and the thousands of other families who’ve had loved ones killed or maimed for the sake of WMD’s that never existed, don’t appreciate word games much. Unfortunately for the dying Bush/Limbaugh, neo-conning right, Americans paying well over two dollars a gallon for gas, and who are about to be clobbered with heating oil costs, aren’t impressed by the indignation-over-nothing-actual fest. Unfortunately for Bush and the indignantly pious – when he is not launching the F-word at colleagues – Cheney, Americans notice more that the stock market continues to dive and that the deficit has just broken yet another all-time record, and rather than being moved to turn on Senator Kerry, they are deeply offended by the insulting attempt, yet again, by the Bush campaign, to attempt to steer their views off of the important subjects. Cheney had rambled extensively about his daughter’s dikedom in the previous debate, but even if he hadn’t, the Cheneys don’t even begin to get that, yes, while they have something for the O’Reillys and Limbaughs to talk about when they are not slobbering or pill-popping, they are not only not gaining any new support but actually offending could-be moderate supporters. Commenting on someone’s openly lesbian daughter is only offensive, as Edward’s wife accurately pointed out, to hateful people who have a problem with dikedom. To the rest of the world, who has no problem with female gayness and, in fact, shell out quite a bit to watch a little female gayness on pay-per-view or DVD from time to time, the indignation of Lynne Cheney is just another painfully embarrassing reminder of the dark-age ticket the Bushes and Cheneys truly represent. Again the media will whip itself up to ask, “Will this sway people?” or more accurately, “Have we done our duty making a big enough deal out of this meaningless nonsense, Mr. Murdoch?” But, at this point, with each grade-school level attempt to change the subject from the death of our troops, oil prices, and the deficit, the Bush/Limbaughians are further digging their own graves. They have a choice at this point. Lose with dignity, and so give themselves a chance to survive and fight another day. Or, as we all know will be the case, burn down their entire house of cards on the way out the door. “He mentioned my daughters name!” Sorry, Mrs. Cheney, but the mention of the names of the eight who died because your husband lied will, somehow, if you can imagine oh Queen of Piousness, be more offensive to the ears of the American voting public. |
