NOVEMBER 1, 2004 – Our reporter who was covering a Kerry-supporter bus convoy to the battleground state of Nevada got to experience first-hand the Bush Nazi-like strategy of harassment. The bus our reporter was on, which had a Kerry/Edwards sign on it, was stopped and held for 40 minutes for no reason whatsoever at a highway checkpoint that is virtually never open. While the state troopers at the inspection station were checking the vehicle over, and over, and over, anti-Kerry comments were made repeatedly to the bus driver. For the non-Moderate Independent which still pretends not to understand why the nation is so polarized, he is yet another example to help clue you in. The Bushies, across the nation, are determined to act like brown shirts at the polls. They are sending masses of untrained “observers,” who know nothing about observing or monitoring elections, to stand around intimidating, challenging, and trying to frighten off voters – and, of course, it is only those in Democratic-leaning areas, in particular minority and elderly areas. In Ohio, two judges have now banned such “observers,” stating that they would do nothing but complicate things and cause problems. Yet, the Republicans say they don’t care, they are going to send these brown shirt observers anyway, and, of course, they are going to send them mainly to minority-dominated areas. This is what the Nazis did. This is what fascist governments everywhere do. And this is as un-American as things get. In Nevada they plan the same. Our reporter will be on the ground to provide updates on any harassment that occurs in this key battleground state that is so important that Dick Cheney is campaigning there today and the Kerry campaign just sent an “Urgent” e-mail out yesterday asking for volunteers to help them on the ground there. The Kerry e-mail might be in response to the realization that they need to have their people there to defend democracy in the face of the planned intimidation by the Bushies. As our reporter tells, from what he observed this past weekend, he would not be surprised if it comes to blows in some places. On another note, the 6% of the population that is cell phone only – and so left out of other polls – was just polled for the first time, and they broke 2 to 1 for Kerry. The sense on the ground, according to our reporter, is a feeling of momentum in the Kerry camp, while the Bush camp and its supporters are unsettled. As for whether tonight’s bus caravans of Kerry’s supporters will be harassed and stopped, Nevada Senator Harry Reid, upon learning about the situation, has taken action that he says will guarantee it does not happen again. Our reporter says 40% of people in Nevada had already voted in early voting, and Democrats are outpacing Republicans by about 5,000 votes. And in case you don't realize how serious this is to the Bushies, Dick Cheney spent most of this final day criss-crossing this state that is supposed to be a Bush lock. More to come… |
