JANUARY 29, 2004 – It all started
a little over a year ago.
There was a massive void in America.
The media had become nothing but useless right-wing puppet - the
equivalent of Pravda in the former Soviet Union. And, as good
Americans, we at The Moderate Independent decided not to stand for
it.
So we set out with only two guiding
principles: truth and what is best for America, the nation we
love.
And from the beginning, the grateful
e-mails began to pour in as readers flocked to read actual news and
truth as it was meant to exist in our great democracy. Here is
a sample:
Thanks for
a GREAT! website.
It
is so refreshing to have a site that is TRUELY moderate.
None of this "fair and balanced" bullshit from Rupert and all the
other corporate owned media whores." - JP, Centreville, VA
I came across your web site researching
the famed President Bush Election slogan "I'm a uniter not a
divider." Your site is insightful for both sides of the aisle .
Thank you - Wally
A While Ago I Came Across The Moderate Independent And I Must Say
I Am Glad
I Did. I Have To Say That I AM A LIBERAL DEMOCRAT A Proud One At
That. The
M/I Is The Kind Of Web-Site That We Need More Of. Thanks For The
Site And Please KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK YOU ARE DOING. - LL
Found your site
when digging for articles on Wesley Clark - I am really impressed!
Intelligent and original - will be a frequent visitor! Sincerely -
Carol
Someone
directed me to your site about 2 hours ago and I started reading
the articles. Despite having a lot of work to do and a plane
to Las Vegas to catch in 4 hours, I am just now coming up for air.
Quite simply I love you guys. - Keith
Three Cheers
from a Moderate Radical! You go guy! - Mikey
Continue to fight back and be a light
of reason in these dark times. - RH, US Air Force
Of course, we have also received some
e-mails from fuming Bush/Limbaughians. Except now they are on
our turf - they are the callers and the show is ours. Of
course if they are respectful we engage them respectfully, and there
have been some great exchanges, and, if you can imagine, moments of
mutual agreement:
This will be the
fourth time (I think) that I’ve submitted an email to your site.
This will be the first time I’ve had anything to write which
resembles agreement... Senator McClintock, to anyone who paid any
attention to the race for Governor, was the only man amongst that
group of misfits (Arnold, Cruz, Huffington, Cameho etc.) with any
common sense and integrity... Kudos to M/I for recognizing
his political courage.
Who says we can't
all get along?
People have asked us
how we got bold enough to do what we do, don't we worry about taking
on such powerful people?
The answer is
simple: so many good American men and women have risked
everything and made the ultimate sacrifice to give us the freedom
and democracy we have today. How could we, as good Americans,
sit by and watch our nation turn into the former Soviet Union
without standing up to fight? What risk could be bigger than
the one thousands upon thousands of good patriots have undertaken -
and are undertaking all across the glove as we sit here - when they
charged over hills, guns blazing, in defense of our nation and
freedom? None, obviously.
So we set out on
this mission. Our readership grew fast, and just as quickly
word of M/I and the stories we were running got the attention of the
non-M/I media. CNN was contacting us for info we had broken,
the San Francisco Chronicle was running info from M/I, and Mickey
Kaus was posting our stuff.
Now we have a whole
legion of loyal readers who are taking our name out there. Our
name is coming up on radio programs, from California last week, to
CSPAN radio yesterday, as we find new readers appearing after having
heard us talked about on the air, sending us e-mails such as:
I am really
glad to have learned about The Moderate Independent. A
caller to C-SPAN's Washington Journal mentioned it this morning.
I'm glad she did. I've been looking for a site like this to
bookmark for a long
time. - Kathy, Michigan
I first heard about your website on CSPAN today. A very
intelligent caller mentioned it in her comments. I decided to
take a look. Your website is GREAT. I will be
spending much time reading your articles.
Thanks for the GREAT work. - TS
And those non-M/I journalists that come
under our wide-sweeping radar are getting blasted with demands for
truth and fairness in large swarms. Just ask Howard Kurtz what
his e-mail box was hit with this week.
Quite simply, M/I is a force to be
reckoned with, a voice that is reaching out not just across
cyberspace, but, via our readers, across the airwaves to the world
beyond. And we are still growing and growing each and every
day.
Thank you all for your kind e-mails and
to those of you who have sent in contributions in support of our
efforts. You can rest easy knowing that this election cycle,
you will not be left voiceless and in a dark haze of misinformation,
because The Moderate Independent will be here speaking with
America's True Voice.
And the best things about The Moderate
Independent truly are our readers. We read every e-mail we
receive and do our very best to respond to each and every one.
And our readers show time and time again that they are the
brightest, best informed, most patriotic and independent people on
the face of the earth - indeed, many of our readers are from places
outside the US, from as far away as England, Sweden, Greenland, and
the Australian rainforest.
So keep spreading the word.
Together we will ensure that whenever our brothers and sisters do
come back home from all the places they are serving overseas, they
will come back to the nation they meant to be fighting for, not to
the one they helped defeat in the Cold War. |
