– Make no mistake,
he got completely, bloodily KO'd.
The man who would be Terminator in real
life got called a big-mouthed, overly arrogant blot of hot air, as
Californians completely rebuked his attempt to play dictator.
And that was just the tip of the iceberg
on this night for the previously unbeaten-this-millennium GOP.
They lost everything - the one "Republican" that won was really a
Democrat who ran as a Republican, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
The night before the election George W.
Bush stopped in Virginia to attempt to help the campaign of
Republican candidate Jerry Kilgore. He did - helped solidify
the solid defeat.
In New Jersey, it wasn't even close:
the Democrat won by 10 percent in a state that recently Republican
Christie Todd Whitman had run and used as a launching pad to become
George W. Bush's EPA chief.
But the sweetest victory of all for
America is what occurred in California.
It wasn't so long ago that the
Republicans could simply do whatever they wanted. In that
atmosphere, they did such things as pass mid-decade redistricting
plans in order to try and steal more seats in the Congress. If
they didn't get what they want, they found a way to force it on
Americans. That was, in fact, how Arnold Schwarzenegger came
to power, in an unprecedented recall election, throwing out a
Democratic Governor, Grey Davis, who had just been re-elected
easily. Schwarzenegger rode to power on the wave of GOP
victory that took the Presidency, the House, and the Senate.
In this glow of endless victory and
feeling invincible, Schwarzenegger called last night's special
election in order to try and pass, among other things, another GOP
redistricting plan. He went after the unions. He went
after teacher tenure. He proposed that he should be able to
simply decide what to cut or not in the budget without having to
consult the legislature.
He called a special election, spending
more than $50 million of taxpayer money, cockily believing he could
shove all these untenable things down the throats of the people of
California and thwart the democratic legislative process.
But in a first since the 2000 election,
for the first time in this age of electronic voting, Saudi-owned FOX
News, and Red State domination, Schwarzenegger did not just do
badly, he got completely, totally obliterated. Every single
proposal he backed was shot down. In fact, unheard of in
California elections, every single proposal was shot down. The
message was clear: take your special election and shove it up
your stupid Republican ass.
Schwarzenegger's approval rating dropped
in the past year, according to LA Times polls, from 69% to 40%.
Just a year ago he thought he was invincible, and so he initiated
this election.
But America is moving through the
looking glass. And the message Tuesday was two-fold: 1)
America, at least for the moment, is done with redistricting and
power grabs; 2) America is done with the GOP.
And more pointedly, Californians are
done with Schwarzenegger. Take a look at the results from the
California Secretary of State website. You really have to
see it to appreciate it. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, and no.
Not a single yes. It was more than just a rebuke of this or
that proposition. It was flat out, total termination of
Schwarzenegger and his typically GOP-style power grab.
We know the GOP will pull out all stops,
that there will be a combination of denials and fleeing, that they
will pretend they weren't lockstep with Bush every step of the way,
that they are not just as responsible as he for what is occurring.
They will attack Democrats, use hate, try to start more wars.
They will use fear and hate and hate and fear, bird flu and Iran
and, and...
But at least for this night the message
is clear: America is mad as hell, and they are out to kick
Republicans ass in no polite or restrained manner whatsoever.
It is open season on even the most haughty and revered of the GOP.
Yes, Tuesday night was bend-over-and-spread-em night for a
Terminator turned Take-Thatinator.
Note: Saudi-owned FOX News' Sean
Hannity actually reported the Democratic win in Virginia as a win
for the GOP and conservatives, claiming the Democrat Kaine only won
because he confused people into thinking he was a Republican.
Sean, there was no confusion.
People saw where the elephant's ears and trunk were. And they
delivered a direct blow, beginning to take America back from you and
the rest of the Bush/Limbaughians who have tried to ride us into the
ground.
And if you really have any doubt, just
call your Bush/Limbaughian governor friend in California, and note
how, when he answers the phone today, he is speaking in a pained
falsetto.
