JUNE 19, 2005 –
We have said again and again here
at The Moderate Independent that our ultimate goal is to never have
to write another article again. We do not seek to build an
enterprise. We only serve to fill the void, adding what is
missing from the American media conversation.
With the increase
in "progressive" voices, the slew of Moveon-type activist groups,
Dean taking over the DNC, Reid becoming their leader, Air America
hitting more and more markets, it was time to sit back and watch and
listen for a while.
It was a nice
vacation - I know my tan is doing very well.
The only problem
is... that our men and women are still dying daily in Iraq, that our
Constitution has been overthrown, that our free press is gone.
AND no one has done anything about it.
We have gotten
many e-mails saying, "There is so much news, why aren't you
writing." The reality is there has been no news - nothing has
been done to remedy the e-voting and other election problems that
allow elections to be fixed, nothing was done in response to the
discarding of the Constitution for a vegetative woman, nothing has
occurred because of the mess in Iraq or new memos reaffirming that
lies were used to lead the nation to war.
Nothing.
Not a single day
of general strike, not a single sizeable protest. Nobody has
even significantly changed their shopping habits. TV-watching
habits haven't altered. No boycotts have been staged.
The nation was
lied into war, two elections in a row may have been fixed, the
Constitution has been discarded, the free press is now all
right-wing propaganda, and no one has done anything about it.
People are
wondering - and "progressive" talkers and bloggers are complaining -
that the "Downing Street memos" have not elicited any response.
They don't really get the reason for it: because everyone
knows that at this point there will be no response on the part of
the American people to anything. If they covered the Downing
Street memos, you know what would happen? Right, nothing.
They can fix
elections, out CIA agents, run the economy to the ground, start a
war on lies, destroy the Constitution and all the people of America
will do in response is ask, "Why isn't TV talking about this."
We weren't joking
when we wrote this article:
THE REAL PROBLEM IN AMERICA - THE BIGGEST DRUG
ADDICTION KNOWN TO MAN
You Can Keep Blaming George W. Bush Or Liberals,
Or You Can Start Dealing With Reality
Because of our nation's addiction, the GOP realizes
it can do anything it wants and no one will at any point do anything
about it. Some whining, some asking why the media doesn't
cover it. But no actual action of any sort.
Some of you didn't
take seriously enough the above article; some of you thought we had
shifted to a story not as important as actual news; some of you
wanted more Downing Street-type stuff, more anger at Bush, more this
or that.
This is the only
truly important story in our nation at this time - it is everything.
Take it seriously. Read it again.
In the meantime,
we at M/I can not just sit by and let our brothers and sisters, sons
and daughters die for a lie without responding, can not let our free
media operate as a Soviet-like propaganda machine without
responding. AND we can not let what is called the
"progressive" media - Air America and the like - go on claiming to
level out the media conversation when, in fact, they are not a
liberal balance at all. While one talk show host actually gets
it - Air America's Randi Rhodes - that the media is the issue, it is
still all response and criticism. No one - no one - is making
the liberal case - a case that is needed to balance out the media
conversation and restore some sanity to the American conversation.
No where is there a liberal voice.
The line of
thinking at the moment is that Bush's poll numbers are low, and so
that means the GOP's hold on power will weaken in one of the
upcoming elections. America clearly does not understand what
is occuring.
Bush's approval
rating was less that 50 percent last election, yet he won
re-election and the GOP increased their hold on both houses.
E-voting is no
joke. Media control is no joke. And you can bet there is
more in store: two elections ago Bush forced a vote on the
Iraq War at the UN during election week; last election, a supposedly
massive Fallujah assault was mounted election week with the promise
to wipe out the insurgents if Bush was elected.
You have seen now
that this new breed of Republican has such a lack of morals that
they are ok with having lied thousands of people to their deaths.
It doesn't bother them.
And in fact
they've been doing this for decades all over the globe. Just
because you didn't pay attention to it doesn't make it less real.
Creating a propaganda machine, replacing the judiciary with your
people, fixing elections, this is what these people have been doing
across the globe for decades, installing an propping up governments
at will. And now they have brought the practice home.
Only M/I reports
the news before it happens, often months or years before.
Indeed, M/I grew out of a comment our founder made seconds after the
Florida recount ended and Bush was officially elected. He
said, "This means we will be at war within the next four years - and
not just a few cruise missiles launched at Saddam, but a well-themed
Cold War-like war meant to last a generation."
People have asked
again and again, "How do you guys get things right before they
happen. Are you prophets? Do you have incredible inside
sources?"
The answer is no.
If you simply pay attention, you can see what will happen before it
does.
Our founder has a
new prediction. It is what is next, he says. While the "progessives"
watch polls and think the GOP is in trouble, the GOP is planning a
nuclear terrorist attack that will be blamed on Iraq or North Korea.
Sounds shocking at
first. How would people of our own nation launch an nuclear
attack on its own people? That seems too cruel (even though
they have lied thousands of us into our deaths and slaughtered tens
of thousands of others.)
No, our founder
said, that is what Iraq is for. Iraq will be the staging
ground. And it won't be a 50 megaton nuke. When the
timing is right, a "dirty bomb" will be set off in Iraq. Iran
will likely be the one blamed. The idea is that a nuclear
terrorist attack will so scare the American people that they will
welcome war against Iran and the GOP thinks it will be able to whip
back up the pro-GOP fervor it did after 9/11.
However, whether
it will work this time is questionable. Especially since we
are reporting it before it occurs.
Now there are a
few things to point out. First, we have no actual knowledge,
have not heard anything or been told anything and no nothing about
any actual plans by anyone to do this. It is just a hunch.
Second, for those
of you out there who don't think the nation can be whipped up the
way it was before, remember, the same people live here who lived
here before; the same 70 percent who believed Saddam had something
to do with 9/11, the same 70 percent who stood behind Bush and was
willing to pre-emptively attack Iraq, the same people who have no
idea what a "Downing Street memo" is and who don't care that they
were lied into war. They still live here and just as they've
come away from Bush and the GOP a bit, they can go back.
And most
importantly, remember the lesson the Dems learned last election:
disapproval of the GOP is one thing, transferring support to
Democratic candidates is another.
Yes the public is
annoyed with Bush and the GOP as they were before the last election,
but the GOP-puppet media made the Democrats even less likeable.
And so not liking the GOP did not translate into voting for the
Democratic candidates.
And really, the
Democrats still are doing nothing to explain why people should
support them. They are still just the anti-GOP, the whiners
pointing out how evil the GOP is. No one is explaining the
liberal philosophy or any substantially different plans that might
make people do something they haven't gotten people to do in a
while: really like the Democrats, as opposed to disliking the
GOP.
We are a moderate
news source, but part of our mission is to fill in the void of what
is missing in the American media conversation. And what is
missing entirely is any truly liberal voice.
And so we have
employed the services of - no, not a "progressive" - and actual
proud-to-be-it liberal. Welcome Abe Alister to M/I. He
will do something that is occurring nowhere else: explain the
liberal case a philosophy. Some of it we at M/I will agree
with, some not. But we fully believe that America can not
survive on only center-right. You need all sides of the
conversation to balance things out. Only by including the
actual left can your arrive at the proper center - which is where
this nation and the world ultimately thrive best.
So hold onto your
seats, liars and fake "progressives" employed by right-wing
propaganda company ClearChannel beware, people out to turn America
into a third-world puppet nation take heed - your plans are no
longer safe.
M/I is back on the
job.
