JANUARY 30, 2006
- Damned liberal reporters. Now they are getting themselves
blown up to try and make the GOP's Iraq War look bad. It's not
enough they report that lots of people are dying instead of
pretending everything is ok as Bush and friends want. But now
they are demonstrating that when we hear reports of "wounded," it is
a big deal; serious injuries with serious consequences.
Years and years after this "couple of
weeks" war was begun by choice, churches are exploding, network
anchors are exploding, court proceedings against Saddam are like a
circus.
Here's a punchline for you: have
you noticed what Saddam is being tried for? For retaliating
against people after an assassination attempt.
Anyone recall our current President
stating one of the reasons for invading Iraq was because Saddam
plotted to assassinate a former president, Bush's father.
So, it follows, that if Saddam is
convicted, it sets a precedent that if Saddam was a criminal for
killing a few hundred Iraqis to avenge an assassination attempt
against the leader of the nation, George W. Bush would be guilty of
the same - even worse, as he has killed tens and tens of thousands
in response to an attempt on someone who wasn't even in office.
And if you wonder why the GOP and the
Bush administration cannot win the war in Iraq - or handle foreign
policy at all, it is all made clear by just three words: more
or less. A couple of weeks ago, President Bush was asked how
many Iraqis have been killed thus far. His answer was, "30,000
Iraqis, more or less, have died as a result of the initial incursion
and the ongoing violence against Iraqis" (see
San Fran Chonicle article, though you can look at any of
thousands that covered this since, as you likely recall, it was said
during a press conference.)
More or less. Who is more and who
is less. Was the mother accidentally blown to bits more or
less? Was the 2-year old baby less? Was someone's son
more? Was someone's father who never did anything against
America less? It's not just that putting things in such
blatantly uncaring terms hurts the task of winning Iraqi hearts and
minds. What it really does is show why they are incapable of
practicing useful foreign policy: they don't see other people
on the planet as people, and so they can't begin to understand how
to usefully approach any situation anywhere. They feel they
can kill these people and it won't bother them, they won't mind;
they will, in fact, thank us.
They feel you can bully, insult, mame.
Don't matter. They are subservient to us.
Such ignorance and amorality cannot
succeed.
The thing to realize as we face the
State of the Union, is that America is no longer a leader in the
world. Get that straight: not only are we not the
world's leader, we are not a leader at all. In order to be a
leader, it means that people follow you - that is the definition.
We can't even coerce people or beat people into doing what we want.
A leader just walks and people follow.
This is conservative foreign policy in
action, the policy of two-year-olds, temper tantrum, plate tossing
stupidity that works with mom but with no one else. This is
why conservative nations never succeed; they always collapse.
Athens did it. Rome did it. They started as liberal
democracies. Then the war mongering conservatives took the
reins and rode the nation into the ground. Socrates was put to
death by the war mongrels of Athens for being liberal, as they bled
the country broke with a string of endless war upon war. Rome
the same.
Liberals would never stand up and fight
for the nation. They would always turn the other cheek until
both our cheeks, and the rest of us, is beaten to death.
Conservatives run and run and run and
keep running full speed ahead like terrified chickens - literally,
you know how chickens will run themselves to death, until their
hearts explode rather than stop and deal with the thing that
frightens them or come up with a useful plan of action. So go
conservatives, the most terrified, mindless creatures on planet
earth, save for their kin the chicken.
Anyone ready for a moderate yet?
By the way: Kerry is the new
McCain. John McCain is now a go along get along chump.
Kerry is the balls out maverick. Yes, a Democrat can have that
mantle, regardless of the fact the rest of the media may refuse to
admit it.
John - Kerry, not McCain - you da man.
McCain is cliche conservative,
party-hack trash. Kerry is America's lead defender.
