September 27, 2006 – It's
been the question on the mind of half of the nation for 5 years.
In the 2004 elections, George W. Bush
wrapped himself around his biggest moment of failure as if it were
his biggest success. He held his convention right near Ground
Zero, and repeatedly tried to brag about how great he was on 9/11
and how his performance with regard to 9/11 meant America had to
re-elect him and Republicans.
The media, of course, played along,
echoing endlessly the lie that, '9/11 is Bush's strong point.'
Somehow, the Democrats took it
Michael Moore drew hundreds of millions
of dollars from people who just wanted to hear someone say Bush's
incompetence at least in part is responsible for 9/11. Al Gore
was brave enough to say 9/11 "could have and should have been
prevented." (see
our article from November 2003 on the subject.)
Even when the Chairman of the 9/11
commission said 9/11 "could have and should have been prevented," (see
our article from December 2003) nothing. Not a peep from
the Democrats or media laying blame at President Bush's feet, where
it belongs for the attack that happened on his watch.
No, the truth wasn't spoken, but the
lies were endlessly. 24 hours a day, as we reported, Disney
Corporation operated right-wing liars from coast to coast (see our
recent Path to 9/11 article for a
summary) who tried to blame Clinton and friends. Fox News,
Limbaugh, etc., etc.
We at The Moderate Independent screamed,
started a petition drive against Disney as a first step toward a
larger stand.
The Democrats remained silent.
And so it all continued. Bolder
and bolder. More and more brazen. Until at last they
crossed a line, at least in the mind of the Clintons, with airing of
Path to 9/11.
As we bemoaned after Path to 9/11 aired,
all of the Democrat and liberal protesting and posturing about what
they would do if the film was aired turned out to be, yet again,
nothing but hot air (see
article). The Democrats showed they will not put their
muscle where their mouths are. The threatened boycotts, etc.,
never happened.
And so the right-wing lying and bullying
continued, more brazen than ever.
Until Murdoch, Bush, and friends walked
headlong into a trap set by one of the most brilliant politicians in
world history.
Only Bill Clinton knows how to use Fox
News properly. You don't go on expecting a fair or normal
interview. You go on to take a message to Republicans.
You go on to say things that are not allowed to be said to
Republican ears. You say things never heard on Limbaugh or Fox
or anywhere South of the Mason-Dixon line. You know the attack
is coming. You don't go in without a plan on how to fully
respond to any attack that will come.
Unlike Bush did with Iraq.
And so Bill Clinton waited, and what the
moment arrived, as he knew it would, he launched the beginning of
Hillary's victorious Presidential campaign. And more than
that, he launched the taking back of our nation by a Democratic
Party the Clintons will insist find some balls - and use them.
One brief comment. That's all it
was.
But look and feel how much has changed.
Look at
Keither Olbermann's article at MSNBC. Today, he spoke with
a clarity and a boldness not seen in the mainstream media. All
the things we have been saying and others in the blogosphere finally
hit home and were laid out plainly. Bush is a coward.
Dictatorship. Failure. Lies. Did nothing in his
first 8 months to prevent 9/11.
Now, the media will spend 24 hours a day
assailing Clinton, trying to get an apology, trying to say he was
crazy.
But the Clintons are making clear this
was no slip and the game is on. When Rice went to another
propaganda outlet owned by Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch to mount a
defense against the truth Bill Clinton spoke, Hillary immediately
fired back, and fired back hard. (see
ABC article)
The rest of the Democrats will still
cower and pander and not even begin to take on the right-wing media
conspiracy that has brought America to its knees, emptied our
coffers, led us to illegal war, left us still doing nothing about
global warming.
But the Clintons, as they head toward
another White House run, will lead the path out of knock-kneed
cowardice, and boldly lead. And those who don't follow, will
be shoved out of the way. The Clintons are on a mission to
help take America back
And this time it's personal.
